Committee
We need volunteer committee members to help run the group. Appointment by selection, many positions available now!
Fund raising
Can you knock on doors, not literally but help us to raise funds to support carers in Lancashire
Buddy's
A very worthwhile and rewarding role. One to one support for carers. Full training given, full CRB (Criminal Records Disclosure) required.
 
Administration
Can you use a computer? good telephone manner and a sympathetic attitude required. Contacting and receiving calls from carers. Part time working or job share. Details will be announced soon.
Volunteer
Other volunteers to help run events all over Lancashire, carers days and much more. Days out for carers,help with shopping or patient sitting
Training
Carers in Cancer offer various free training opportunities and also some compulsory training requirements as well.






If your an ex carer, why not share your experience with us and help run the group! just a few hours each month, full training for volunteers, make a difference to other carers, we all need help at some time in our journey. Help us build a new carers support group and be part of the better deal for carers. We welcome all volunteers and positively share the needs of disabled people as well as those able bodied and from all ethnic or cultural backgrounds.


Volunteering?

All volunteers from all ages, genders or ethnicity are welcome. Our group cannot function without special people who can give us some of their spare time. It is a very rewarding role, it can be tough at times emotionally but there is support for you all the way. All we ask for is a formal commitment from you and as we are a constitutional group, abide by the rules that govern us. We offer in return:-

  • Full training for the role you are interested in doing
  • Out of pocket expenses incurred whilst carrying out you duties** only those approved by the group
  • Full membership of the committee is open to all volunteers
  • Full free CRB check at our expense
  • Counseling supervision for those on Buddy duties

Training:

One or two day workshops run by Macmillan Cancer Support
A full cancer support course leading to a National NVQ 2 certificate in supporting someone with cancer, these are free courses spread over 12 months at various location in the UK
A chance to work with other carers and drop in at meeting venues for informal chat and coffee and attend national events and conferences also.


Committee membership

You can apply to become a full member after 6 months as a volunteer. There is a £50 annual fee payable to the group, and a selection process and interview.
Committee members will automatically be enrolled as trustees when the group applies for Charitable status
You will be responsible for various roles within the group and have an active say on the groups future policies
You will be nominated to engage with national carers organisations as well as local services
